Reproducible by running evince, changing the window size, quitting, and then restarting.

The desktop loads okay with the icons, top bar, and default Gnome blue bubble background. Source I also installed Openbox but when i choose it on login screen i get a black screen for a few seconds and get back to login screen again.

evince 3.4. Get Gentoo! The initial window geometry and fit option isn't preserved. You should be able to fix it by logging on to a console (ctrl-alt-F1).
