Thank You, Thanks a zilion, I was looking days on end to solve my smb/nmd problem , uninstalling reinstalling, changing many may config files etc, and switching appamour off solved it, I changed those permissions with rw for all and this worked. I haven't read it and have no way of testing it, not having a Windows Domain, but I have found Samba by Example to be an excellent reference.
