This fix has also been put into Adobe Photoshop CC which was released on Monday. It DID repair some Shockwave 10 permissions, IIRC but nothing in /var/tmp. At any rate, the permanent fix for me was to go into /var/tmp and make sure that the owner of the folders.501 folder was in fact the user. Anyway, I did find a quick fix apparently for any Vista users out there: 1) Open Windows Explorer - Find the scratch disk in question. 2) Click on Security 3) At I do it at least once a month, sometimes more frequently.

Or do you mean on the 300GB, but then initialising the 250GB won't help. Photoshop runs fine. I deleted useless things from the disk that contained photoshop, and so freeing about 4gb of space and now i can use it as i did before. For the drive with the Apple Partition Map, setting the drive to 'ignore permissions' then allows it to work.
